The law practice was started by Adv. Vinayak D. Govilkar in 1959, venturing into this extremely competitive field, which, as he was told at that time, was already saturated. But, due to sheer grit and perseverance, he was able to establish a name for himself and went on to appear in several high-profile matters, including ones for the Government of India. 

 

Adv. V.D. Govilkar was later joined by his son, Adv. Rajshekhar V. Govilkar, in 1975, Adv. R.V. Govilkar holds an LL.M. from Mumbai University and with over 47 years of work experience, he has represented the State of Maharashtra as its Government Pleader at the Bombay High Court, Original Side and is currently on the panel of Advocates of several Government (Central & State) and semi-Government institutions, educational institutions, Universities and even some private bodies. He also acts as an Arbitrator. He is being supported by his son, Adv. Mihir R. Govilkar, who, in addition to his LL.B., holds an MBA from Johnson & Wales University, USA and a Masters in Finance from EDHEC Business School, France.
